Steeped in rich jazz heritage; the three enact instinctively & harmoniously to create a moving and energetic musical experience. Michael Ewbank doubles with a swinging bass keyboard giving way to a full quartet sound from this trio. Drawing from the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, and contemporary jazz / blues artists; Jazz By Three gives rise to a unique atmosphere and brings unforgettable memories to any event.
About Us
“Jazz By Three” features Jeff Andrew Simpson (tied closely with colleagues @ Jazz At Lincoln Center NYC) is a musical director / educator in Atlanta by day and professionally among the most in-demand players in town. His playing is flawless on sax, flute, trumpet, piano, and vocal styles of Harry Connick Jr, Bublé, and Sinatra. Jeff’s CD of original jazz compositions “In A Midnight Moon” was well received and critically acclaimed.
Our TRIO version also features local legend Michael Ewbank on keyboards (Tall Dogs, Butch’s Brew – Butch Trucks of Allman Bros Band – also The League of Decency, Tommy Dean) Michael is a star. His piano playing is brilliant and enchanting. With major recording label creds and formidable talent, his rep follows wherever he performs and is one of the most sought after artists in the city.
Billy Bryant’s exceptional brushwork on drums, intuitive feel for Latin percussion, and New Orleans vocal style pulls it all together for an outstanding TRIO experience. Billy has been a mainstay in the Atlanta music scene for years; playing drums for major music venues, festivals, and opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Chuck Leavell (Sea Level). He founded “A Sparkling Planet” which was a popular swing/lounge/jazz band in the early 2000s.

Jazz By Two (Jeff Simpson & Billy Bryant) has been a big hit over the past 5 years offering an interpretation of classic, light, cool, smooth and Latin Jazz sprinkled with some POP. It was created for an intimate & atmospheric experience and a small footprint for many suitable occasions and events. Successful with 5-star reviews and “Best Of” awards many years in a row.
After getting together with Michael Ewbank this year, it was an epiphany. The perfect “musica simpatico” & synchronicity a group of musicians search for but rarely find. There was no doubt in our mind that we MUST take this to the next level and offer the TRIO set. Jazz By Three was born and it is being received mightily.

There is normally a $150.00 deposit to book the band and get your event firmly on the calendar. **If a corporate function, we will abide by vendor guidelines and be happy to discuss alternatives, if needed.
